Schedule

The schedule of this project was determined by the construction of a gantt chart followed by a rough estimation of the time each task would take to complete. As can be seen, the schedule was broken up by term as the design, construction, and testing portions should all roughly adhere to the length of a term.

Fall Quarter

Before any construction of the vehicle could be attempted, a preliminary design, analyses and drawings had to be completed. A proposal for this design was being completed in tandem with the above mentioned tasks. The gantt chart scheduling for this quarter can be seen below.

Winter Quarter

After the design proposal, drawings and analyses have been completed, the construction and assembly of the components and the vehicle can begin. The most time consuming tasks of this phase will be the fabrication and assembly of the differential and motor housing. A completed vehicle will be available by the end of the term (03/07/2022). The gantt chart scheduling for this phase of the project can be seen below.

Spring Quarter

After the construction of the vehicle has been completed, the vehicle will be put through rigorous testing that will attempt to corroborate the analyses done in fall quarter. testing will be completed by the end of the regular term in time for the R/C Baja competition (06/03/2022). The gantt chart scheduling for this phase of the project can be seen below.

Budget

The current budget is projected to be $2,591. This value is subject to revision as this project progresses. The part costs of this project are related to the motor, electronic speed controller, and battery which will cost a total of $170. The labor cost came out to approximately $2,293 assuming 50 labor hours at a rate of $45.97/hr. Total cost can be reduced if work can be expedited and parts can be cannibalized from owned R/C vehicles. Funding for this project is covered out of pocket. Figure 4 will show the tabulated costs of labor and total cost of parts.
